Map for the session: ES is at 7669.5 into the New York open, below yesterday’s low (7676.75), last week’s low (7676) and the London low (7691.75). Today’s low and the current week’s low sit together at 7660.75, the next level underneath. Overhead, the London and Asia highs (7712.25 / 7711.75) cap today’s range near the daily high at 7714.25.
Fundamentals
- Tech-led selling carried over from Thursday, when the S&P 500 fell about 1.2% and the Nasdaq about 2.6% on worries over AI spending. S&P futures were down about 0.3% early Friday.
- Oil is the main macro driver. Brent is above $114 on US-Iran tensions, feeding inflation and rate concerns and keeping Treasury yields in focus.
- On the calendar: US manufacturing and services PMIs and the consumer sentiment update. Any hot inflation-expectations reading adds to the rates pressure.
- Earnings: Bloom Energy beat on profit and revenue, but the shares fell on negative free cash flow. Weekend headline risk from the Middle East stays high.
Strategies on Watch Today
These are rule-based strategies we are paper-trading forward on our research platform. Results are simulated; no real orders are placed.
- ES Futures Breakout, 15-minute (Micro E-mini S&P, MES). Window 14:00-16:00 Lisbon. It trades with the Supertrend, waiting for a 15-minute fair value gap whose entry edge sits in the 0.62-0.79 retracement of its leg, with a limit at the gap edge, stop beyond the leg start and a 2:1 target. With ES below 7676, the 7660.75 low and the 7691.75 London low frame the leg it may work from.
- Samurai ORB Structure, Intraday 4.1 (Micro Nasdaq, MNQ). The opening range forms 14:30-14:45 Lisbon. It waits for the first 15-minute close outside that range in the direction of the break of structure, with momentum, signals until 16:30 Lisbon. Stop at the far side of the range, 1:1 target, flat by the 21:00 close.
- Samurai ORB Scalper 1.1 (Micro Nasdaq, MNQ). Same 14:30-14:45 Lisbon opening range and 16:30 signal cutoff. It needs a break of structure plus aligned swing structure and a strong momentum candle; stop one tick beyond the signal candle, fixed points target, flat by 21:00.
R = the amount risked on a trade. Paper-trading results are simulated, may not reflect real fills or slippage, and do not predict future results.
Bias
Bearish lean. ES has lost yesterday’s and last week’s lows, sits under the London range, and the macro tape (oil, yields, AI selling) is not helping. The decision level is 7676-7676.75. While ES stays below it, 7660.75 is the first test, and a clean break there opens fresh weekly lows. A reclaim and hold above 7676.75 would point to a squeeze back to the London low at 7691.75.
